With the breeding season just beginning, I always try to work out a game plan for all mares under my management. By this I mean a breeding schedule for all mares. This list can be broken down the following two ways and should contain the following information:

 
1. Alphabetical

2. By breeding farm, I prefer to have my list set up by breeding farm that includes their telephone number, breed days, call-in times, & collection  times. If I am using more than one stallion at that farm then I will place them in collection order.

b. Broodmares name, age and preseason status.

c. If the mare is in foal, include her due date.

d. Always place the mares in the order of importance ie: barren mares, maiden mares and foaling mares in their due date order. This again will keep your eye on the target at a glance, and we all know time is a wonderful commodity in the middle of the breeding season! More than anything else it is a reference point  that I keep on my clipboard for those times when you least expect!
